What’s Up?

I was a Food Blogger before blogging about food was cool, back in the days of message boards, forums, and Live Journal. I am the chef and owner of A Gourmet Affair Catering and the creator of Salsa Addiction. I love sharing recipe’s with everyone.
I have a published Recipe in the Penzey’s Spice catalog/magazine, and encourage others to put away the jars and cans and cook fresh rustic and delicious meals!

  1. Thank you for following my blog, Kitchen Keepers because that brought me to yours, which I am enjoying! You may have noticed I am a fan of Penzey’s Spices as well, and mention various blends often in my posts.

  2. I prefer WordPress also, Maria. I began the Mappings blog on Blog Spot the first week in January 2009, not really knowing much at all about blogging. Later that year I took an online course in beginning blogging through a writing group I have belonged to for a number of years (Story Circle Network). It was very helpful. I could choose any blog service I wished for my course work, and thinking I would later combine the two blogs, I chose WordPress so I could learn more about it. As it turned out, that blog took such a different direction, I knew it would be a mistake to combine them, and have just maintained Mappings as I designed it. Later, when I was asked to record more of my cooking adventures (I thought it would only be family who would be interested in it) , I started Kitchen Keepers, and it has turned out to be the most popular of the 3 blogs.

In the long run, Blogspot may be simpler, but I much prefer the options Word Press offers. Not that I use all of them!

  3. Hi there!

What I need is a course in WordPress, I know it has so much more to offer me, Im usually a “self learner” but I just do not have the time to learn it all (or take a course lol) but I will get there eventually! πŸ™‚ I posted another recipe yesterday and Pasted it from Pages which helped a little in some of my font issues I was having.
Not surprising Kitchen Keepers is the most popular, its a great blog and people love to hear other peoples stories, especially about food. Plus, food is such a popular and trendy topic right now!
Hope your doing well!! Greg will be in Texas in the next couple of weeks, I think him and Sean might plan on getting together while he is πŸ™‚

    • The WordPress tutorials are very helpful if I take the time to plow through them, so if you have the extra time it takes it is well worth it. I am having trouble with getting the plug ins and widgets into my template. And even though there is a symbol that reflects my being published int the Roots Food anthology, it is not live to click on.

      • Ahhh ya, I have not even dug deep enough to get into all of that lol, Ill get there! Good idea with the tutorials, I just need to find time where Im able to sit all by myself with no children needing “mommy” every 5 minutes so I can listen and concentrate lol
